Before Burning
-
- When lighting your “Beautiful Soul Candle” for the first time, please burn the wax until it melts across the entire surface creating a melt pool. This will help prevent tunneling and create an even burn for the duration of the candle’s life. This may take up to 4 hours to accomplish.
- DO NOT burn the candle for more than 4 hours at once.
- Trim wick to ¼ of an inch before each burn to promote an even burn, steady flame and limit sooting/mushrooming of wick. To purchase our candle wick trimmer click here.
- Avoid drafts, vents or air currents, this will help prevent rapid or uneven burning, and sooting.
While Burning
-
- Always burn a candle within sight.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended or lit while sleeping. If you are going to leave the room or go to bed, be sure to extinguish all candles first.
- Never touch or move a burning candle. Never move a candle container when the wax is liquified.
- Don’t burn a candle all the way down. For safety measures, stop burning a candle when there’s a ¼ inch of wax left in the vessel.
- If burning multiple candles, place each candle at least three inches apart from one another. This is to ensure they don’t melt one another, or create their own drafts.
- Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Before re-lighting, let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts.
- Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Burning candles MUST BE kept away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
- Keep candles out of the reach from children and pets. Do not place lit candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.
When Extinguishing
-
- Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle, if available, as it’s the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering. To purchase our candle snuffer click here.
- Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. These signs indicate the candle is not burning properly and the flame isn’t controlled. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, then check for drafts before re-lighting.
- Do not use water to extinguish a candle, this can cause the hot wax to splatter and could break a glass container.
- Before leaving the room, make sure your candle is completely out and there is no glow coming from the wick ember.
- Do not touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.
Storing Candles
-
-
Fragrance oils and waxes are sensitive to heat or direct sunlight. Avoid keeping candles anywhere that gets hotter than room temperature and never leave candles near sources of direct heat, such as radiators, space heaters, or kitchen appliances.
-
Store your candles in a place with a cool, even temperature (below 74 °F/ 24 °C). Otherwise, any excess heat may cause the candle wax to soften and cause the fragrance to not last as long.
-
Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place. Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.
-
Use a candle lid as this will prevent dust and debris from accumulating on the candle surface.
